How to decorate your garden?

When the weather is fine, gardens and terraces become an extension of the house, a living space in their own right. To feel good and enjoy a beautiful space all summer, the layout and decoration, as inside the house, are very important.
There's no need to change all your garden furniture. Take a look at our ideas and tips for decorating your garden!

Decorating your garden with lighting

To prolong the summer evenings and create a warm atmosphere, the lighting of your terrace or garden is essential.
The outdoor lighting will then have several functions: providing light at dusk, but also decorating your space.

There is no shortage of solutions for lighting the garden. For those on a budget, candles and garden torches will produce a soft, subdued light that is very pleasant. However, be careful around children if you don't want anyone to get burnt!

Lanterns are also inexpensive and easy to place where you need light: on the table, on the ground to mark the outline of your terrace, or hanging. You can also install garlands of lights on the wall of your house, or even in the trees for a magical atmosphere.

Barbecue cooks will need more powerful lighting to monitor the cooking process. There are vertical and floor lights. You can also buy grill lights to place inside your barbecue.

With outdoor rugs

Waterproof and resistant, outdoor rugs are available in different materials, sizes and colours.

It's a clever way to cover a decking you don't like, or to add a special atmosphere to your outdoor space. There are many prints available from manufacturers, from colourful for a bohemian look, to natural colours for a cleaner look, anything is possible.

Outdoor rugs can also help you to define the space if you have a large terrace or garden. For example, separate the dining area (table and chairs) from the relaxation area (garden furniture or deck chairs).

In the same spirit, think of outdoor cushions to decorate your garden lounge. You can replace them every year to change the decor. And it will save you the trouble of changing your garden furniture 😉

Don't forget the heating

An outdoor heater will allow you to enjoy your relaxation area several months of the year. There are various ways to warm up the atmosphere on chilly evenings.

Patio heaters are often seen in restaurants, but they are also available for domestic use. They are very efficient. They use radiant heat which warms people and objects but not the surrounding atmosphere. These outdoor heaters can be operated by gas or electricity.

Braziers are steel baskets in which fuel (usually briquettes) is burned to produce heat. They are inexpensive to buy and use, but should be kept out of reach of children.

...and pot plants

Flower pots on a balcony seem obvious, but when you have a garden there is nothing to stop you from mixing garden plants with flowers or potted plants.

For example, planters can be used to create volume and colour in your garden, or to separate spaces.

You can also take advantage of this to include plants that are not adapted to your soil or that fear our climate: the pots are installed outside during the summer and brought in during the winter.

In terms of decoration, there is something for everyone, from the modern versions in acid colours to the more classic or rustic terracotta versions.

Decorative accessories

Don't forget the accessories to complete your landscape. There are all kinds of accessories available in garden centres and specialist shops. Take the time to browse through the shelves to find the ones that suit you.

Statuettes and fountains for a Zen gardenor bird feeders and decorative animals for a very natural atmosphere. Wind chimes, outdoor clocks, candle holders, mirrors, weathervanes, sundials ... the list is long. The choice is yours!
