Bertrange: peace and quiet at the gateway to the capital

Composed of a single locality (Bertrange), the municipality forms a transitional space between the capital and the south of the country and can count on its many assets to make it a pleasant place to live.

Some key figures

Surface area: 17.39 km².
Population: 8,543
Density: 491 inhabitants/km

In the past, Bertrange was an agricultural village, but its population increased year after year until it reached a peak in the 1960s. Today, Bertrange is a victim of its own success and has the highest average price for new flats in the country. Adjacent to the city of Luxembourg, residents particularly appreciate its proximity to the motorways, its commercial areas and the various parks that the municipality has. Given the popularity of Bertrange, it is constantly developing to meet the needs of residents and future residents.

A community with many activities

In terms of infrastructure and services for the population, the municipality of Bertrange is not left behind. The "Atert campus", which consists of several buildings, caters for pre-school, early childhood and primary school children. The municipality also has several crèches, the ArcA music school with a multi-purpose stage...

In addition to the children's schools, Bertrange offers a "public writer", a free service that helps you to write a document, a letter or complete an administrative form, for example. An ideal service if you have just arrived in Luxembourg and would like some language advice.

There is also a wide range of sports facilities. In the centre of Bertrange, the inhabitants of the municipality enjoy the Atert sports and cultural centre, which includes a festival hall, a large foyer, a training pool and a sports hall. The inhabitants of the district also enjoy the aquatic centre "Les Thermes", which is managed by an inter-municipal association of the municipalities of Bertrange and Strassen. In addition to the aquatic centre, the municipality has numerous sports clubs for young and old alike. There is plenty to keep the whole family busy! Not to mention the fifty or so associations that keep the local events calendar alive.

Bertrange also has two large shopping centres that are a delight for shopping enthusiasts. Residents can choose between the Belle-Etoile shopping centre and the City Concorde to do their shopping or any other purchase.

Shared space and public transport

The municipality of Bertrange has an important offer in terms of public transport. Because of its proximity to Luxembourg City, the municipality is crossed by numerous bus lines of the AVL and RGTR networks which allow you to reach the capital. It also has the Bertrange-Strassen railway station on its territory, through which trains from the Belgian border pass.

The municipality is keen to offer its citizens soft mobility and is making BE Bike electrically assisted bicycles available to them. In the centre of Bertrange, the municipality has also set up a shared space allowing cars, buses, bicycles and pedestrians to cohabit and move at a moderate pace. Considered a real pioneer in the country, this zone set up by Bertrange, bringing together housing, shops and leisure activities, could continue to expand.

More and more projects

In order to continue to offer its ever-growing number of inhabitants quality infrastructures and services while expanding its housing offer, Bertrange is multiplying municipal and private projects. New housing estates should be built. The Allées Vertes housing estate on the route de Longwy will accommodate 250 homes. Near the route d'Arlon, the KBL site will accommodate 160 homes. Finally, two phases of work will allow the construction of approximately 460 homes in the Pourpelt district.

In terms of infrastructure, an additional residential complex for the elderly will soon be built. A new sports hall and a new halfway house will also be built after the demolition of the existing multipurpose hall.
