{"id":11853,"date":"2019-02-11T14:25:28","date_gmt":"2019-02-11T13:25:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.athome.lu\/blog\/?p=11853"},"modified":"2022-06-14T14:55:11","modified_gmt":"2022-06-14T12:55:11","slug":"rental-what-housing-aid-in-luxembourg","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.athome.lu\/blog\/en\/louer\/locataire\/location-quelles-aides-au-logement-au-luxembourg\/","title":{"rendered":"Renting: what housing subsidies are available in Luxembourg?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Financing of a rental guarantee, rent subsidy or rental of subsidised housing... these are all housing aids put in place by the State to facilitate access to housing in Luxembourg.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Housing aid n\u00b01: Aid for the financing of a rental guarantee<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">It is granted to people who wish to rent accommodation, but who cannot afford to pay the deposit requested by the owner or landlord. To qualify for this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.athome.lu\/blog\/blog\/louer\/demander-laide-etatique-au-financement-dune-garantie-locative\/\">rental guarantee<\/a>The following conditions must be met:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Be of age<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Have a residence permit valid for at least 3 years<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Not being a landlord<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Enter into a conditional deposit agreement and allow the State to recover the deposit via a pledge agreement<\/span><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Good to know: The accommodation for which an application for rental guarantee funding has been made must be the applicant's main residence.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Housing Benefit No. 2: Rent Subsidy<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">This is a monthly payment. It is calculated on the basis of household income and is intended to help low-income people to live in decent accommodation.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The conditions for accessing this aid are :<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Be of age<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Not being a landlord<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The accommodation must be in Luxembourg<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">No public housing<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The amount of the rent must be higher than a quarter of the monthly income (excluding social benefits)<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Have a regular income for at least 3 months<\/span><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Types of accommodation with reduced rent<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Subsidised housing<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The Housing and Habitat Development Fund has properties, houses and flats, for rent to low-income residents. The rent is calculated at 75 % on the household income and 25 % on the number of square metres of living space.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In order to rent subsidised housing, the applicant :<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Must be residing in other accommodation in Luxembourg at the time of application<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Can't be a landlord<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Must provide a rental guarantee of 3 months' rent if accepted<\/span><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n<section id=\"section-3-14695\" class=\"ct-section\" ><div class=\"ct-section-inner-wrap\"><div id=\"div_block-4-14695\" class=\"ct-div-block\" ><div id=\"new_columns-7-14695\" class=\"ct-new-columns\" ><div id=\"div_block-8-14695\" class=\"ct-div-block\" ><div id=\"div_block-14-14695\" class=\"ct-div-block\" ><\/div><\/div><div id=\"div_block-9-14695\" class=\"ct-div-block\" ><h1 id=\"headline-11-14695\" class=\"ct-headline\">What are the property prices at the moment?<\/h1><div id=\"text_block-12-14695\" class=\"ct-text-block\" >Prices are slowing down. In return, they undertake to be monitored by the social services. The rental period cannot exceed 3 years.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The following are among those who are eligible for this assistance:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The homeless<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Immigrants<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">People living in hostels<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Divorced or unemployed people<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">People living in substandard housing or housing not suitable for their family<\/span><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><br><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Please note: the applicant must be in a precarious financial situation and be affiliated to the CNS. He\/she must not be a landlord and must have a valid residence permit.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Student accommodation<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The University of Luxembourg provides its students with more than 1,000 accommodations in 37 university residences.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><span style=\"color: #000000;\">To be eligible for student accommodation in Luxembourg, you must :<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Being a full-time student at the University of Luxembourg<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Be part of a recognised exchange programme for a period of 6 months<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The deposit to be paid depends on the accommodation occupied. It can vary between \u20ac350 and \u20ac500. Rents range from \u20ac365 for a room to \u20ac695 for a furnished studio.
