Originally a Japanese garden style, it combines both natural and architectural elements.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The spiritual Zen garden was used by Japanese Buddhist monks throughout the 13th century as a place for meditation. Layered to create a three-dimensional image, a spiritual Zen garden is planned with a foreground and background that leads to a viewpoint. Follow the tips below to create your own Zen garden.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Water<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">All elements have a purpose in the Zen garden, and water is the main provider of life. It is a natural element that can be represented by a stream, or a pond for example. Sand can also be used to represent water.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>The rocks<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Rocks are one of the most important elements of a Zen garden, as they create dimension. They reflect the scale of time but also provide presence and energy. Select your stones and rocks in different sizes, with the larger ones in the background and the smaller ones in front. You can choose damaged stones to add depth and character.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Alternatives to water<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Sand or pebbles can be used as an alternative to water. Scatter the sand around to create a rippling water effect and to provide energy to the garden. The sand used in Zen gardens is not traditional sand but crushed granite (it comes in different shades)<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Designing your garden<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">A bridge is one of the architectural elements that can be used in a Zen garden.
