{"id":9156,"date":"2017-03-27T09:07:47","date_gmt":"2017-03-27T08:07:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.athome.lu\/blog\/?p=9156"},"modified":"2022-05-12T09:27:11","modified_gmt":"2022-05-12T07:27:11","slug":"kaerjeng-a-recent-commune","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.athome.lu\/blog\/en\/marche-immobilier\/villes\/kaerjeng-une-commune-recente\/","title":{"rendered":"K\u00e4erjeng, a new municipality"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Located on the Belgian border in the southwest of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, the municipality of K\u00e4erjeng offers a natural and industrial environment that is appreciated by its many inhabitants. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The municipality of K\u00e4erjeng was formed in 2012 through the merger of Bascharage and Clemency. It now comprises five communities - Bascharage, Clemency, Fingig, Hautcharage and Linger - spread over an area of almost 34 km<sup>2<\/sup>.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">With more than 10,000 residents, K\u00e4erjeng comes in at number 9<sup>\u00e8me<\/sup> It is one of the most densely populated municipalities in the country. In recent years, it has undergone significant demographic change. Since 2000, an additional 1,500 inhabitants have joined the municipality. Bascharage is the largest entity, accounting for more than half of the municipality's residents.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Despite its border location, K\u00e4erjeng has a very Luxembourgish population: more than 70% on 1 January 2007.<sup>er<\/sup> June 2015. The other countries represented were Portugal (around 11%), followed by France and Belgium (both just over 4%).<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"595\" src=\"https:\/\/www.athome.lu\/blog\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/kaerjen2-1024x595.jpg\" alt=\"Fa\u00e7ade of the Kaerjeng town hall\" class=\"wp-image-9158\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.athome.lu\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/kaerjen2-1024x595.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.athome.lu\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/kaerjen2-300x174.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.athome.lu\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/kaerjen2-768x446.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.athome.lu\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/kaerjen2-18x10.jpg 18w, https:\/\/www.athome.lu\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/kaerjen2.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Businesses in the open air<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In this two-faced municipality, nature and industry live side by side in harmony. K\u00e4erjeng is home to the Boufferdanger Muer nature reserve between Hautcharage and Fingig. The municipality is continually trying to make the most of this heritage, for example by means of tours through fields and forests.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">At the same time, Bascharage has long attracted a number of companies. The industrial estate, which was established some thirty years ago, brings together companies from the region and subsidiaries of large European groups. Examples include Delphi Automotive Systems and Guardian Luxguard. The Brasserie Nationale, which produces Bofferding beer, has also set up production here.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Improving mobility<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The only drawback is that the large number of companies and the location of the municipality lead to heavy road traffic, mainly around Bascharage. For this reason, the Luxembourg Government Council has approved a project to introduce a bypass around the town. This initiative is expected to bring fresh air into the city centre and ensure a peaceful environment for everyone. In order to relieve traffic congestion, 60 additional parking spaces will be made available in the northern P+R. The development of a southern P+R is also under consideration.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">As far as public transport is concerned, K\u00e4erjeng is well connected by bus and train. Luxembourg City, the neighbouring municipalities and Belgium can be reached easily. Finally, soft mobility will soon be reinforced thanks to the creation of a cycle route linking several stations between P\u00e9tange and Bertrange.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Several real estate projects in progress<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In recent years, in order to keep pace with population growth, the municipality has voted to build residences and housing estates: a residence of 7 dwellings and 2 single-family houses in Bascharage, 26 houses and 3 collective residences of 8 dwellings each in Hautcharage, as well as 32 plots of land for single-family dwellings in Fingig. In addition, a new neighbourhood is to be built in Hautcharage. As the municipality states, <em>\"The PAP foresees the creation of a subdivision with 23 single-family houses, including 5 detached, 6 semi-detached and 12 row houses.<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><a style=\"color: #ff0000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.athome.lu\/blog\/recherche\/resultats\/tr\/by\/w\/a,Kaerjeng+%28LU%29\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Find your accommodation in Kaerjeng<\/strong><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>A community that relies on its youth<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Thanks to the merger, K\u00e4erjeng now has more resources for its many residents. In this context, the municipality is paying particular attention to youth facilities, because, as Mayor Michel Wolter points out, \"The municipality is not only a place for young people, but also a place where they can learn and grow, <em>\"Our children are an invaluable asset, a fabulous reservoir of diverse talents. They also represent the future. It is therefore essential to help them prepare for their future in the best possible way.<\/em>. Thus, there are numerous cr\u00e8ches, basic, pre-school and early childhood schools, a technical college for health professionals, a music school and two halfway houses in the area.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">There is also a wide range of sports facilities. There are playgrounds, a school swimming pool, several sports centres, football pitches and tennis courts. Handball, basketball, karate and fitness are also available. Youth movements, choirs, wind bands and theatres complete the rich leisure infrastructure. All in all, almost 100 local associations keep the community alive on a daily basis.
