{"id":9967,"date":"2017-07-28T09:02:47","date_gmt":"2017-07-28T08:02:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.athome.lu\/blog\/?p=9967"},"modified":"2022-05-12T09:06:50","modified_gmt":"2022-05-12T07:06:50","slug":"house-apartment-what-distribution-in-luxembourg","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.athome.lu\/blog\/en\/marche-immobilier\/maison-vs-appartement-quelle-repartition-au-luxembourg\/","title":{"rendered":"House vs. flat: what is the split in Luxembourg?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">According to a recent study by Statec, 233,675 dwellings were counted in Luxembourg in March 2017, divided into 142,820 residential and semi-residential buildings.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>50% houses - 50% flats<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Half of the dwellings are single-family houses, 35% of the dwellings are in apartment buildings and 15% in semi-detached buildings.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Single-family homes account for the majority of buildings<\/strong> (82.9%), compared to 17.1 % for apartment buildings (residential and semi-residential buildings).<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Looking more closely at the distribution of houses by construction type, detached houses are the most common (37.3%), corner houses account for \u00bc of the buildings, and row houses for almost 20%.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Uneven surfaces<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The average surface area of the dwellings, both flats and houses, is<\/span><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> 130 m\u00b2 in Luxembourg.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">There are, however, significant disparities according to the type of housing. The average living area for a house is 166 m\u00b2, while it is 85 m\u00b2 for flats and 91 m\u00b2 for those located in a semi-detached building.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The surface area of housing is also affected by urbanisation.
