When is the best time to move?

The annual calendar of removal companies is a bit like that of a hotel: there are high, medium and low periods. From one to the other, the cost of a move can vary by as much as double.
Avoid summer and the end of the year
Because of holidays, children's holidays and the weather, people move a lot in the summer, which means that the schedules of removal companies are literally overbooked. This is the time of year when it is particularly difficult to find a mover and when prices are at their highest - the law of supply and demand. This period runs from mid-June to mid-September, but is obviously not the only time to avoid. The end of the year and the school holidays in general create traffic jams on the removal companies' routes, so you often have to plan three or four months in advance!
When to move?
If you can, of course, plan your move at the very beginning of the year (until March) or between mid-September and mid-December. That still leaves you some room to manoeuvre! Better still, even if you have to ask your employer for a day or two off, choose the middle of the month and the beginning of the week (many people move on a Saturday). You'll find that there are many advantages to choosing these off-peak periods: the cost of the move, of course, but also the availability and attention of the team that will be loading your furniture. Grandma's Chinese vase may well thank you!
