3 essential steps to set up a home cinema room

Are you a fan of the 7th art and would like to live your passion to the full by creating a home cinema room at home? Here are some ideas that could help you in your project.
The layout of the room
Ideally, a home cinema room should be located in a quiet part of the house. As it is rare to have a spare room, a garage or attic space can be used.
What you need to know is that the size of your room will determine the choice of your screen and furniture. For a screen with a base of between 2 m and 2.5 m, you will need to allow between 3 and 5 m for the seats in the front row. Ideally, the seats should be centred in front of the screen and there should be at least 80 cm of space between the walls and the rows of seats.
Good to know A real cinema seat is 90 cm wide.
Acoustics in a home cinema
No home cinema room is worth its name without excellent acoustics! Insulation plays a major role, as it allows you not to be disturbed during the viewing, but also not to disturb the neighbours.
To achieve good insulation, absorbent partitions should be placed on the walls and ceiling of one third of the room on the screen side. On the rest of the room, diffusion panels are preferred.
The location of the speakers is also very important. Ideally, the front speakers should be on either side of the screen. The centre speaker should be placed on a stand or on the floor, facing slightly upwards towards the audience.
Tip Stretch ceilings have two advantages: they hide the ceiling insulation materials and they allow the wiring to pass through.
Creating a cosy atmosphere
Red carpets, heavy drapes, but also subdued lights along the floor... these are all details that will finalize the design of your home cinema room. For your seats, choose comfort! Purists will look for real rows of cinema seats. You can find them on the internet and sometimes in second-hand shops and antique shops. For lighting, indirect light sources are preferred. Is your house connected? Your home automation system will certainly be able to manage the lighting in the room.
The performance of your installation will depend on the quality of the equipment chosen and the preparation of the walls and ceiling of your room. A home cinema room is a real asset to your home, and in the event of a sale, it can trigger a real love affair.
