The house in autumn mode

After the spring cleaning, the autumn makeover! It's back to school time, no more garden furniture for all the summer barbecues, it's now time to go inside! But to feel good at home and start the cocooning season, the best thing to do is to give your house a little maintenance before the winter season. Here are a few simple tips to apply right away! Read and listen 😉

Outside the house

Make sure that the ground around your house slopes away from the foundation walls so that your basement does not flood.
Remove dead leaves from around the house, and any that have accumulated in the gutters and on the roof to facilitate the drainage of rainwater. And take the opportunity to check the condition of your roof.

Beware of frost: empty and store hoses, turn off outdoor taps.

Still in the garden or terrace, it's time to bring in your potted flowers, geraniums... Store your outdoor furniture in a dry place, and cover it to prevent it from gathering dust. You'll be glad you did next spring!

Finally, prepare your garden and protect young trees or shrubs against the cold season.

Inside the house

Before winter, it's time to service your heaters. Think about calling in a specialist company. And don't wait until the cold weather arrives to take care of it.
If you have a chimney, this is also the time to check it.

As you know, in autumn, natural light begins to fade, thelighting is therefore of great importance. Play with the intensity of your light sources with dimmers. Large candles and candle holders also help to create a warm atmosphere.

If you want to refresh your decor this autumn, this year's materials and textiles are: wood, cork, and rattan for furniture, and all natural fibres such as woollens and linen.

Finally, there is also room for new autumn colours: dark green or navy blue, all deep and warm colours. And if you're afraid of making a mistake, the sure things of autumn remain unchanged: browns, oranges and reds!
