700 empty dwellings rented for a moderate rent

(Lessentiel Online) - Social rental management makes empty housing available to people on low incomes. At the end of 2018, 174 dwellings were managed according to this model.

Unoccupied and privately owned housing can be mobilised to house people on low incomes with housing problems. This is possible thanks to the Social Rental Management (SRM) set up by associations, municipalities and social offices in Luxembourg. "The GLS is a tool that allows to directly or indirectly provide considerable support to municipalities in their duty to help people in distress", explains the Minister of Housing, Sam Tanson, in a parliamentary reply to François Benoy, Déi Gréng MP.

At the end of 2018, 714 dwellings were managed nationally under the GLS model. The Minister estimates an increase of around 800 homes by the end of 2019.
