Rules for a post-confinement property visit

This article was written in May 2020, after the first mass containment in the world during the first wave of the COVID-19 epidemic. The recommendations mentioned may no longer be relevant by the time you read this.

With the deconfinement and reopening of real estate agencies, housing visits are again allowed in the country.

However, these must be carried out in compliance with health regulations in order to protect visitors, property owners and real estate professionals.

Recommendations for the visit

For the protection of all, measures will be put in place by the professionals before, during and after your visits:

  • Limit the number of people on visits to reduce the risk of encounters and contact: no more than three people (including the agent) on a visit.
  • Mandatory washing of the real estate agent's hands upon arrival at the property to be visited
  • Remove the occupants of the property, in case of a visit to an inhabited property
  • Clean the most frequent contact surfaces (door handles, tables, etc.) with disinfectant or a usual cleaning product before the visitor arrives
  • Ventilate the premises before the visit and open the interior doors of the property
  • Organise the provision of documents to minimise contact between the agent and the client
  • Give priority to reception in front of the building and keep the distance of 2 metres
  • Wear protective equipment (mask)
  • Not shaking hands
  • As far as possible, keep a distance of 2 metres between people throughout the visit.
  • All used and soiled consumables must be taken away by the agent in a closed bag at the end of the visit.
  • Provide visitors with hydro-alcoholic gel at the end of their visit

All of these measures should allow you to visit homes in complete safety and pursue your real estate project with peace of mind.
