Rambrouch, for the quality of life

Located in the west of the country, Rambrouch has retained its rural character. But this does not prevent it from being "full of life". It has many local services and more than 70 associations are mobilised to multiply cultural, artistic and sporting activities.

Constituted on 1 January 1979, following the vote on the bill to merge the former communes of Arsdorf, Bigonville, Folschette and Perlé, The municipality of Rambrouch has not experienced a population explosion in recent years. On the contrary, the evolution has been smooth. The population has grown from 4,130 inhabitants in 2011 to 4,256 in 2015. With 138 people, non-Luxembourgers have swelled the ranks, while the number of Luxembourgers has fallen slightly by 12 people. "In 2010, we welcomed around 49 nationalities, compared to 62 in 2014," the municipality points out. Among foreign residents, Belgians are particularly numerous, with nearly 700 representatives. This large community is not surprising given that Rambrouch is located on the border with Belgium, near Martelange.

The campaign with all the services

This geographical situation partly explains why the commune has been preserved from the migration flow and anarchic real estate development. "The municipality is located quite far from the city of Luxembourg and its surroundings, where many citizens have to travel to work every day. Unfortunately, there is no remedy to improve the situation," says the commune. Some people regret this. Others, on the contrary, are pleased. For this has enabled the commune to retain its authentic, rural character. Covering an area of 79 km2, it has 58 km2 of agricultural land. While being located in the countryside and in a quiet area, it offers everything you need: excellent school facilities, doctors, a dentist, a pharmacy, a hairdresser, restaurants, various businesses and trades... . In terms of education, Koetschette (one of the sections within the Rambrouch area) has a school complex which currently has around 420 pupils. This complex includes basic education classes, but also a halfway house, a swimming pool, a sports hall, a playground and a crèche which opened last September.

A municipality that listens to projects

In addition to these facilities, which appeal to families, there is also a wide range of activities for everyone. The commune has no less than 70 sports, cultural and artistic associations. Very active, they are notably involved in numerous events organised throughout the year: concerts, plays, etc. The municipality has also emphasised outdoor sports activities by creating hiking trails, a fitness trail and another dedicated to mountain biking. "The municipality never fails to support any interesting proposal, whether it be cultural or leisure activities," emphasises the mayor. Another lever used to make the area more attractive is to take care of the reception of companies. The municipality is committed to giving them a little help in terms of communication via the "Betriebaus der Gemeng Rammerich" project. This scheme allows them to be featured in "De buet", the municipal newspaper that is distributed to all households in the municipality four times a year.

It builds

As mentioned earlier, Rambrouch is not undergoing a rush in terms of population development. And there is no question of seducing at all costs. The real estate offer is therefore developing in a reasonable way. "The municipality tries to buy land or buildings as much as possible in order to improve the housing supply, while at the same time ensuring that growth remains moderate," says Rambrouch. Various housing development projects are currently underway or about to be launched in Holtz, Hostert, Arsdorf in Bilsdorf and Folschette.
