How to look for accommodation with your partner?

With Valentine's Day just around the corner, are you getting ready to move in together?

You may be a perfect couple, but that doesn't mean you have the same wants and needs when it comes to where you are going to live.
Here are some tips to help you in your search for real estate: what compromises to make or how to find common ground with your partner.

When it comes to your dream home, do you think of the city and she sees herself in the country? Do you want to live near your parents and he wants to be closer to his work?
Or do you imagine a designer kitchen and your partner prefers a traditional one?

When you first move in with your partner, or buy your first house together, you are bound to have different wishes and desires. And when differences of opinion get in the way, it can wreak havoc on a couple.

To avoid this, and to reach agreement, it is necessary to manage these differences and to compromise. Instead, try to focus on your common selection criteria and try to understand your partner's choices.

To do this, each of you should make a list of all the things you want in a house or flat - without taboos. Then rank your list according to priorities and what matters most to you.
Finally, look at the first three criteria in each list, with a view to understanding and satisfying the first six items combined.

Of course, there will be wishes on your list that won't be fulfilled, but sharing your life with someone also means sharing their wants and needs, in real estate too 😉
