How to cool your home without air conditioning?

You can be for or against air-conditioning, but in fact you often don't have any. In hot weather, however, you need to find ways to cool your home without air conditioning and to support the air in your home. Here are some of them.

We close, we open

When the heat starts to invade the house, or even before, the first thing to do is to find and contain the sources of heat. This includes, of course, windows and glazing that let in the sun's rays. Closing blinds and shutters (or simply curtains) during the day and opening them wide at night when possible is the first - good - reflex. There are others, such as making sure to replace all halogen bulbs with LEDs, not turning on the oven, etc.

Fresh sensations

So far, we have not created any heat, but during the day we have not cooled the air either. To cool your home without air conditioning, a fan is the right accessory. It only stirs the air, but you can lower the temperature of a room by a few degrees by placing a bottle of frozen water in front of it. You can also wet the floor of your living room (without soaking it) or any other area: by evaporating, the water will create a pleasant sensation of coolness. You will find it again if you dry your clothes by the window.

Think about plants

Evaporation is also the principle that should lead you to invest in plants. More precisely, we are talking about the phenomenon of evapotranspiration: potted plants in your home or on the balcony, as well as climbing plants on the walls, will release healthy water vapour.
