Bathroom: trends and novelties

Today, more than ever, the bathroom is a particularly popular room in the home. It is associated with relaxation and well-being, and deserves careful decoration and modern equipment.
Whether you like it natural or designer, discover the latest trends and enjoy the new features in your bathroom.

Walk-in shower or island bath?

Choosing between a shower and a bath can be a real dilemma. Let's take a look at the two options.

The walk-in showerThis is the shower without a shower tray (also known as a "shower tray"), but completely integrated into the floor. It can be separated from the rest of the bathroom by a simple curtain or by a glass or plexiglass wall, or even better, by a heated wall. The best for those who are cold!
It is even possible not to use any separation, provided that the surface area of the room allows it, so that the splashes do not reach everywhere.
Walk-in showers bring an incomparable aesthetic and harmonious look to the bathroom. And what's more, they can be combined with almost any style. More than just a fashion, they have become a must!

Bathroom trends

If you are one of those who prefer baths, the island bath with its elegant curves is particularly popular at the moment - if your bathroom space is large enough. Other bathtub trends include oval, round and asymmetrical bathtubs, which can be used in any bathroom.

Natural and wood, particularly in the Scandinavian style, or the clean look of lacquered and designer furniture are preferred.

Basins take over

If there is one piece of equipment that is becoming more and more noticeable in the bathroom, it is the basin. Formerly considered simply for its practical use, it now comes in a multitude of shapes and materials (dare, for example, to use glass or resin). Single or double, round, square or rectangular, or even as a washbasin, it can be installed or hung on the wall, with or without a matching piece of furniture, etc. As for the bathtub, the oval shape is currently very fashionable.
In a word, the basin has become a decorative element in its own right.

Bathroom fittings

Let's not forget the taps, which are very important in a bathroom. A large number of models exist to perfectly match the style of your bathroom: art deco, design, very pure, classic... As well as finishes for all tastes: chrome, gold, nickel, white, and even black.
Our tip: fit your taps with water reducers, also known as aerators, which reduce the flow rate. By injecting air into the water outlet, the aerator reduces water consumption while maintaining the same feeling of comfort. It's clever and above all environmentally friendly!

The bathroom is connected

For some time now, new technologies have been invading the bathroom, and people are enjoying it! From simple gadgets for some, to real usefulness for others, these innovations will perhaps equip all our bathrooms in the future.

One example is the connected mirror, which is like a giant tablet that plays music or videos, gives the time, the weather and even your latest emails.
And the progress doesn't stop there, it also nestles in the shower head, which changes colour as you use water. Red: it's time to get out! Or connected to your smartphone via Bluetooth to listen to your favourite music.

Even toilets are becoming more connected and could end up settling some family disputes with a seat that opens and closes automatically, or the diffusion of an air freshener.
If you were already spending time in the bathroom, you're sure to spend even more time there!

In August 2016, the giant Google actually filed a patent for a fully connected bathroom. Its idea is to equip each object or piece of furniture in the bathroom with sensors, in order to collect data on the state of health of users. This information would then be sent directly to the attending physician.
