Living in Diekirch

In the north of the Grand Duchy, on the banks of the river Sûre, the town of Diekirch offers its inhabitants a peaceful living environment.
The community of Diekirch is nestled in a particularly attractive natural setting. It is a wonderful place to live, with a state-of-the-art educational, sports and cultural infrastructure.

Historically, Diekirch was mainly a military town. Today, the municipality is still an important centre of state activity, but more in the administrative sector. In addition, many students come to Diekirch. Indeed, several high schools, including the Lycée Classique de Diekirch, the Nordstad-Lycée and the Lycée technique hôtelier Alexis-Heck, are located on its territory.

In terms of housing, there are several projects underway in the municipality, including the former Diekirch military estate. The latter will be redeveloped by the "Société nationale des habitations à bon marché (SNHBM)" with a start date planned for 2021. This large-scale project will cover two hectares and will provide 185 flats.

Finally, in terms of transport, the railway station, located on the Diekirch-Ettelbruck line 10, provides easy access to the south of the country and the capital as well as to the north and Belgium.
