Waldbredimus, a cosmopolitan community

The small municipality of Waldbredimus (12.6 km²), only 20 km from the Grand Ducal capital, is developing while maintaining its picturesque character. Despite a slowly growing population, the municipality is determined to offer its inhabitants quality housing and infrastructure, and to maintain a local relationship.

The municipality of Waldbredimus, despite its small size, is the cosmopolitan municipality par excellence. A few kilometres from Luxembourg City, it is made up of 5 localities, Trintange, Ersange, Gondelange, Roedt and Waldbredimus. It has less than 1,000 inhabitants, two thirds of whom are Luxembourgers, and no less than 42 nationalities are represented in its 12.6 km².

A growing demand for housing

Although the population of the municipality is slowly increasing, Waldbredimus is facing a growing demand for housing. For this reason, the municipality decided to build the new housing estate "Hinter Lauteschin the centre of Waldbredimus. Several houses are still available on atHome.lu.

A welcoming city centre

The community wants to maintain the friendly and welcoming character of its town centre. For this reason, the village square of Waldbredimus, the 'Duerfplaatz', has been completely redesigned. Mayor Louis Oberhag inaugurated this meeting place two years ago. In order to maintain the socio-economic activity on its territory, the municipality of Waldbredimus also wished to modify its general development plan (PAG) to guarantee parking possibilities near the shops and restaurants in Ersange. For the mayor, these establishments are important for the locality because they create jobs and ensure social diversity by attracting visitors from other municipalities.

Comfort as a priority

Connecting Waldbredimus to the natural gas network is one of the main objectives of the mayor, who presented the CR148 project a few years ago. At that time, the project included the redesign of certain streets, the renewal of pavements and the installation of various networks. After the main street of Waldbredimus was straightened, the municipality decided to do the same with other streets in the locality (rue de Trintange). The mayor sees the connection of local residents to natural gas as a way of improving their quality of life, but also as an opportunity to " a significant upgrading of the core of Waldbredimus and the entire picturesque village".

Strengthened infrastructure

The youngest children have not been forgotten: in the village of Trintange, the municipality is planning to extend the school complex of the primary school and the 'Am Kiischtenascht' halfway house. Due to the growing number of pupils, additional rooms and containers were initially deemed necessary. This expansion should enable the school to accommodate more children and ensure their comfort.
